It took me a long long time to stop biting my nails but eventually, when i did, it was worth it. I can’t imagine biting nails now because that would utterly ruin my nails manicure! Nowadays, I help spread the word and help people, especially women, to stop this bad habit completely.
If you’re reading this, you must want to stop biting nails or know someone who does, so I’ll try my best to tell you what you can do to stop this nails manicure ruining habit!
- Try out artificial nails - this could protect your natural nails for some time until they grow out.
- Get a manicure - get a nails manicure regularly. Keep nails trimmed and properly filed. Mentally, you’d be thinking of staying attractive by not ruining your manicured nails simply stop biting nails.
- Use a stress ball - this will keep your hand occupied and should lessen the urge.
- Get a hobby that will keep your hands busy - try drawing or painting. Play a musical instrument or play a sport.
- Wear gloves- you can also use stickers or bandages. Get a sense of awareness of when you are biting nails
- Try stress management techniques - like meditation and exercise.
- Use a polish such as Mavala Stop - this is a bitter tasting polish. I tried something like this before and it really helped me stop biting my nails
- Grab a rubber band - what for? It’s for giving yourself a quick snap for biting nails
Be aware of the habit and you will stop biting nails. Just keep trying ok?
